Biography

At 22 years of age, Jonathan Senik became a prize-winner at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. Senik was born in Israel and was considered a piano prodigy, since he performed an entire concerto with the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra at the age of eight. He studied with Ms.Yulia Zimin, and was then a student of Dr. Mark Shaviner at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University. He won top prizes at many national competitions in Israel and has played with most orchestras in his native country. He has collaborated with many conductors, including Vag Papian, David Loebel and Lahav Shani.

He has worked with well-known artists, such as Daniil Trifonov, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Prof. Rena Shereshevskaya and others. He was also mentored by Murray Perahia. Jonathan is currently supported by the Ronen Foundation and Bistritzky Foundation. He is also a recipient of the Arkady Fomin Scholarship Foundation in 2024.

He performed in many events such as the Tel-Hai international piano masterclasses, the Arthur Rubinstein Virtual Pianofest, the Oxford Piano Festival in England and the International Chamber Music Academy in Ochsenhausen, where he won the ‘Bruno Frey Musikpreis’ for the best chamber music performance.

Jonathan won two concerto competitions in two different schools, in Tel-Aviv and Boston, with second piano concertos by Rachmaninoff and Brahms, and was named as the ‘Best Israeli Performer’ at the 17th edition of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. In 2021 he also won the chamber music competition at the Tel-Aviv University.

He was chosen to be among the finalists of the Ambassador Programme of Classeek in 2024, and was nominated for the ICMA award. He performed recently at the Verbier festival, Boston Symphony’s ’Decoding Shostakovich’, the Dame Myra Hess concert series in Chicago and Festival Ravel in France.

He has earned both Bachelor and Master degrees at the New England Conservatory in Boston, under the tutorship of Professor Alexander Korsantia, and he is now based in Berlin.
